CContent Management

Nowa Era is a renowned publishing company in the educational sector in Poland, facing the transition to the digital era through adoption of Cloud solutions. In their journey to digitalize their contents, Moja Nowa Era needed an integral solution to:

  • Digitally store its existing contents.
  • Transform them to digital, interactive solutions for its customers – teachers, publishers and students.
  • Create a platform to create new contents.
  • Create a solution to share those contents with customers.
  • Protect the environment to ensure data privacy and integrity.
  • Around 30k teachers are currently using the environment, while the total amount of users rounds 250k.

NPM Integral Solution supported by AWS

NEORIS migrated Nowa Era’s contents to three Amazon Web Services (AWS) accounts – development, acceptance and production – where the digitalized existing data was stored and implemented its NPM solution to transform and rebuild the contents into interactive books and related material for students.

NPM is an integral solution based in four applications (either backend and frontend) which combine the strength of different AWS services such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS), AWS Elastic Beanstalk, AWS Lambda, AWS Fargate, Amazon Aurora or Amazon ElastiCache.

NEORIS secured and protected the accounts and data, while enabling contents for the users with low latency and fast response; the partner linked the new infrastructure to the existing SANOMA environment and integrated third-party solutions for monitoring and alerting following the customer’s instructions.

Move to Production in 2023

NEORIS set up the four applications in scope in 5 months, by creating the needful infrastructure through IaC and proper levelling and testing.

The infrastructure supported the school start by September, accepting the total workload of 10k schools and 280k users without any impact for the customer.

Auto-escalation, alerting, proactive monitoring enabled by AWS created a dynamic solution for the unexpected situations inherent to new environments and enabled Nowa Era’s successful start of the current season.

Transformation on-flight

The adoption of the NPM setup for the Polish market entailed the needs of transforming the platform to enhance security and improve cost effectiveness. NEORIS gathered a team capable of setting up the ecosystem and, at the same time, change its connectivity and security replacing it by newer solutions and more effective strategies.

NEORIS created AWS Cloudformation templates or adapted existent ones to rebuild the needful infrastructure, using CI/CD to ensure reusability and versioning for future references and needs. Besides, the team implemented a combination of AWS EventBridge and Lambdas in order to automate sets of actions, and added solutions based on Fargate to enable faster and more efficient escalation of resources to answer to the demanding educational environments, reducing the need as well for server administration.

Although the deadlines were tight, NEORIS answered NOWA ERA’s demand of a new and efficient environment, and thoroughly analysed the needs and requirements to offer the optimal setup.

As a result, the costs were also kept under control by NEORIS by reducing the need for EC2 servers, S3 storage and even third-party solutions, all without losing functionality, performance or effectiveness.

The customer was satisfied with the solution and NOWA ERA saw its products going live in the dates agreed and children and teachers were able to use its products from first day of school.

Customer Satisfaction

NOWA ERA publishers and the whole customer’s Product Team were involved from the first minute by NEORIS, and the collaboration was fluid and continuous.

NEORIS was as well in constant communication with AWS Business Support to ensure prompt response to unexpected issues.

After the go-live, the satisfaction of the customer was translated into appreciation letters sent to NEORIS team members who contributed to the success of the project.
